Introduction to "Human Mercy
Humankind, the Chinese title of the book is "Human Kindness". The author, Roger Bregman, is a Dutch writer and historian who supports basic income and open borders. Bregman is a Dutch writer and historian who supports basic income and open borders, and this is his fourth book. This is a book that attempts to argue for the goodness of human nature. Most people are accustomed to accepting the assumption that human beings always prioritize their own interests, and so we must act with self-preservation in mind. ROGER BREGGMAN What Roger Bregman tries to argue and tell us is that this is not the case.
Is it true that human nature is evil?
Is it true that the first human being is sexually evil or not?
What's interesting about this book is that the author likes to present "scientific evidence" in support of sexism that we often see in media books and movies, and then present "scientific evidence" to the contrary. For example.
- The great history of mankind says that homo sapiens had the upper hand in evolution because it was more ruthless. But the authors say that in fact Homo sapiens was more lovable and loyal to his friends, well you know, like a puppy is more lovable than a wolf.
- The famous New York Bystander Effect case, in which the residents of a building all stood by and watched as their neighbor was killed, is not true, the author says, because the police didn't show up, and the victim ended up in the arms of a friend who didn't want to come forward.
So when you read his stories, you'll think, "Oh, so social evil is just a myth. But this book is not about everyone being good and the world not being so bad. Although, it seems to be blaming the media, but can the media be blamed for distorting the truth? Not really.
To me, although the book emphasizes that most people are actually good people, the author does not deny that there are still a few bad people. The important thing to remember is that we should remember that the majority are the good guys, and instead of treating all strangers as bad guys, we should get over our fears and assume that others are good guys first. (This argument also reminds me of the followingThe Hated Courage Trilogy). Human beings like to mirror the behavior of others, if you are good to me I will be better to you, if you are bad to me I will be worse to you... Everyone assuming that others are bad has a very bad effect on themselves and on society.
The debate between sexual goodness and sexual evil is nothing new, but what is new is that this book tries to overturn our common and established perceptions of other people, leaving more detailed ideas to be read and thought about by ourselves.
